How fast do the school karts go?
Our 125cc racing shifter karts are capable of speeds exceeding 80 MPH. By the end of the day, students usually go 75 to 85 MPH. The karts weigh 200 pounds and have about 40 HP. This is a power-to-weight ratio better than a Shelby Cobra. Zero to 60 MPH takes about 4 seconds.
When are classes held?

KRC offers schools at a number of race tracks in the Southern California area. See the Tracks page for details. Most often we teach at Willow Springs, near Palmdale/Lancaster, about 1 1/2 hours from downtown Los Angeles. We are capable of teaching karting schools at other areas of the country for pre-arranged special Corporate programs. Contact us for details on what we've done and what we can do for your company.
How do I sign-up?
You can print out our on-line Application form and mail or fax it to us at: (818) 528-4455. Be sure to provide your credit card number under Track Fees Due. Or just give us a call at 888 KRC 4fun.
Can I attend a KRC class if I have a sore back, heart condition, etc.?
No. The racing karts used in KRC schools can generate lateral loads to the body of over 2 Gs. In addition, go karts have no suspension so the ride is very bumpy. This is a high-adrenaline sport and students must be in good physical health.
How old do I have to be to participate in a KRC school or event?
16 years old.
If I (or my kid) want to pursue a racing career is this a good way to get started?
Yes. Most professional racecar drivers begin in karting. They also continue karting to maintain stamina and driving agility. If the child is under 16 then they will need to start in our kid racing karts.
Can women attend a KRC School?
Of course! In fact, women often listen better and ramp up their skills more gradually -- often resulting in faster lap times. Just don't come if you're pregnant.
I am not a racecar driver wannabe. Is the KRC school too hard for me?
No. KRC schools are structured according to driver skill. We break students into groups and can accommodate a wide-range of abilities.
Can I get a private kart school for my company or clients?
Yes. KRC offers professional-quality Corporate events. Previous clients include: Audi of America, Microsoft, Toyota, Ferrari of North America, Rousch Racing, Nestle, Sara Lee Coffee and Tea, and Kawasaki. Call us to customize an event to your needs.
Can my friends come and watch while I attend a KRC class?
Yes. Most tracks charge $10 for a spectator pit pass.
How long is a KRC school class?
4 and a half to 5 hours long, classes usually start at 8:00 AM and go until 1:00 PM.
How much seat-time will I get at a KRC school?
More than any other kart school. All KRC racing courses are hands-on classes. Other than the track walk and safety brief, all training is done in driving sessions and hands-on drills. A typical class will give each student 50 to 75 laps. Most students are exhausted by the end of class.
What does KRC really teach? Do you just let the students drive around the track?
KRC teaches the fundamentals of racing: the driving line, the apex, acceleration, starting, shifting, threshold braking, and timing. The day begins with clutch and braking drills and quickly works up to full lapping sessions. Qualified instructors work with each student, observing their technique and providing feedback.
What do I need to bring to a KRC class?
Just you, wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes. We provide a driving suit, helmet, gloves, etc. We also provide refreshments.
What happens if I wipe out and crash a kart?
Drivers are 100% responsible for all crash damage. Most incidents do not damage the equipment but a severe crash could result in repairs of $100 to $1,000.
Are the karts big enough for me?
We have a variety of seat sizes for our school karts. We can accommodate drivers from 5' 0" to 6' 6", weighing from 100 pounds to 280 pounds. Be sure to specify your size when filling out the application.
Can I use my own motorcycle helmet?
